Beauty and fame may run in the family, but there's more than pedigree behind Liv Tyler's success.
You might just say that Liv Tyler has made all the right moves. Daughter of legendary rock star Steven Tyler and famous muse and former model Bebe Buell, beautiful Liv followed in her mother's footsteps and began modeling at the age of 14. Soon afterward, she turned her attention to acting, and the talented young actress went on to land some of Hollywood's most coveted roles. Liv Tyler has met with acclaimed reviews for her performances - and continues to wow fans as an irresistible model for Givenchy!
Born in 1977 in New York City and raised in Portland, Maine, Liv grew up among some of the biggest names in rock royalty, so not surprisingly, she found herself in front of the camera at an early age. At 5'10" with rich brown hair and striking blue eyes, she seemed destined to follow her mother's modeling path. But although she started out modeling, she soon moved on to acting and was first seen by TV audiences when she starred in the music video for Aerosmith's hit song "Crazy" with her father, lead singer Steven Tyler, in 1993. Liv's career quickly transitioned to the big screen and while still in high school, she landed her first role in the suspense thriller Silent Fall.
Liv's uniquely stunning good looks and her natural flair for acting quickly helped her land a string of desirable breakthrough roles: in Bernardo Bertolucci's Stealing Beauty (she received acclaimed reviews on her performance and was the highlight of the 1996 Cannes Film Festival) followed up by a starring role in Tom Hanks' That Thing You Do!, headlining opposite Joaquin Phoenix in Inventing the Abbotts and playing Bruce Willis' daughter in Armageddon. She was even named one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 1997. But it was the part of Arwen, the elf princess in the wildly popular Lord of the Rings trilogy that became the incredible springboard that brought her acting career front and centre among audiences of all ages.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy marked the turning point for Liv in more ways than one. In 2003, as the third film in the trilogy was captivating worldwide audiences, Liv was also enjoying happiness in her personal life. She married Royston Langdon, lead singer of the group Spacehog, and in December 2004, she gave birth to their son, Milo. Liv also returned to her modeling roots and signed on to become the face of Givenchy in 2003.
For the French luxury brand created by Hubert de Givenchy, Liv was an obvious choice. A modern beauty, elegant and spontaneous, Liv is an American movie star with a unique presence and personality - just like their very first spokesmodel, the incomparable Audrey Hepburn.
In 2005, Givenchy created the "Liv Tyler Rose" and the fragrance was infused into Givenchy's Very Irresistible Eau de Parfum. Liv's face has become synonymous with the scent, and with other Givenchy brands, including Rouge Intredit lipstick and Givenchy's newest star: Absolutely Irresistible. An unconventional bon vivant and a true style icon, Liv was the ideal choice. For Liv, her association with Givenchy is a perfect match. In her opinion, the brand is timeless, fresh and modern, and Givenchy style gives her the freedom and sophistication she loves.
Liv loves beautiful fragrance, but her passion for fashion is well known - and also something that runs in the family. Liv's parents both have a very strong sense of style, and Liv admits to being a "serial shopper" constantly on the lookout for vintage and basic pieces, shoes and accessories. Not surprisingly, some of her best friends are fashion-forward celebrities: designer Stella McCartney, model Helena Christensen and actresses Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow. Liv loves dressing up, but comfort is also an important focus in her wardrobe. And she doesn't follow Hollywood's reverence of thinness. She admits she'd prefer to be thin, but realizes that it doesn't come naturally and that she has to work at it. She does tend to go up and down with her weight and she believes women shouldn't be consumed about their bodies - it's most important to be healthy. She eats healthy and works out, but not obsessively.
Although Liv loves the beach, she's very disciplined about her skincare. She protects her skin with sun block - she loves her pale, porcelain skin - and she follows a daily skincare regimen. Her makeup routine is simple and quick - she subscribes to the philosophy that less is more. Powder is a staple, and she adds a little concealer, blush, lipstick and a touch of black mascara.
Now single and living in New York, 31-year-old Liv is a happy and contented mom to 4-year-old Milo, and remains close to her family. And her star is continuing to rise. After taking a couple of years off to spend quality time with Milo, she's starred in several movies in 2007 and 2008, including Reign Over Me with Adam Sandler, the suspense thriller The Strangers (she's a horror movie buff), and the comic-book classic action hit The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton - and she has more on the horizon. Her natural beauty, fresh femininity and mischievous smile continue to make her a favourite among movie-goers and celebrity watchers. Liv Tyler is a movie star and beauty icon with a unique, special charm and playful elegance that is truly and absolutely irresistible!
